Welcome To Your Own Way

About Mara wolfsen, LCSW

I'm a psychotherapist with almost 30 years' experience. I focus on each person's unique path and don’t believe one way fits everyone. People do best when support is tailored to their strengths and goals. Your Own Way was created to help people find and build their own ways of living, coping, and growing. I offer decades of clinical experience, a flexible and creative approach, and a commitment to working with clients to find practical, meaningful solutions that fit their lives.

Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) treating depression, anxiety, trauma, addiction/recovery, and postpartum/maternal mental health. I use a whole-person, individualized approach so you feel safe, comfortable, and truly heard—an essential part of healing and lasting change.

My “own way” began before grad school after interviewing a former gang member who helped youth leave that life. Their stories deeply influenced me and inspired a commitment to creating a compassionate, nonjudgmental space where people can be listened to and begin to heal.

I hold a BA in Behavioral Sciences and an MS in Social Sciences from Bryn Mawr College. I became an LCSW in Pennsylvania, worked in community mental health and substance abuse treatment, and moved to California in 1999, where I have continued to practice and grow professionally.

I work with people who are ready to make positive, meaningful changes—supporting and guiding them as they discover their own way forward.
